The Village of Cobleskill intends to seek grants to pay for the demolition and rehabilitation of a long-vacant space at 553 Main Street.
COBLESKILL — A hearing to get residents’ input on obtaining grants to raze and rehabilitate a long-vacant space at 553 Main Street in the Village of Cobleskill will be held at 7 p.m. May 21 at the Cobleskill Fire House, 610 E. Main Street.
The hearing will be part of the village board’s regular meeting that night, according to the published Notice of Public Hearing. The hearing was officially scheduled during a special village board meeting on the morning of May 9.
“The purpose of the hearing is to obtain citizens’ views and comments relative to the submission of an application to Empire State Development for financial assistance under the Restore NY Communities Initiative,” the Notice of Public Hearing reads. “This project includes the demolition and rehabilitation of condemned properties within the village to be repurposed for community use. The following properties will be submitted for consideration: Parcel 56.17-8-29.1 at 553 Main Street, Cobleskill, NY.”
The empty space sits between some apartments and Scholet Furniture on one side and the law offices of attorney Evan R. Lane on the other.
